International IAPMA Paper Art Exhibition

July 28, 2019  November 22, 2019

Negev Artist‘s House, Beer-Sheva

On display: ‚Fleurs Lumière L’ombre‘, Leporello, CartaStaminea

Medium: Paper (Kozo, Gampi), Yarn (Silk), Gold Leaf, 45x45x1 cm

Black and white flowers seem to grow out of this Leporello, a modern interpretation of good and evil. The artwork is made of diverse self-made papers with black and white silk yarn integrated. Yarn inlays between the paper sheets symbolize infinite finiteness and life itself. In the design of black and white paper made from natural, bleached Kozo and black colored Gampi fibre, the entanglement of opposites – good and evil, true and false, light and dark – manifests.

The INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION of HAND PAPERMAKERS and PAPER ARTISTS (IAPMA) is the world leading organization for paper artists. It was founded in 1986 in Düren, Germany, when paper as an art medium was far less well-known than it is today. While paper history and production are one facet of the Association's activities, the central focus is paper role as art form and as a contemporary artistic medium. ☛
